Do you know that there is an exact same scenario in the industry of mattresses? When you are purchasing an organic mattress for your home, the whole thing appears to be a straightforward purchase but behind it is a lot of money (we are speaking billions) and tons of drama and politics. For instance, should you be offering mattresses as a supplier in America, your mattresses will have to pass the fire safety requirements. And that, for one, sounds like it has a great cause. Of course, we don’t want to hear about a family caught in a fire sourcing from a mattress, do we? You see, smoking could be among the probable cause of this kind of fire. So we wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the industries behind this movement are the tobacco and the chemical industry.

The articles recently published by the New York Times covered similar fronts in the “Fire Safety Citizens” and “Thank You for Smoking” films, but funded by chemical companies and major tobacco companies. According to this article, “Fire Safety Citizen” reported that a doctor showed photographs of a poor baby who got burned mainly because the mother had put a candle on his bed and burned the bedding. How sad? The result is a perfect production but it did not actually happen. Why are they doing this?

Chemical businesses are trying to promote chemicals. This is what they do. And their approach is to target the emotional side of people. No one wants to see the baby light up in the fire! When you show signs of sadness, politicians will pass the law to get all the bedding that should be flame retardant. They want all stores that sell mattresses and bedding to pass the fire retardant regulations and thus ensures that no one sells a mattress that is fire hazardous.

So, the bottom line is that even selling or buying mattresses have politics behind it. And even if it is not true, the people behind it create something that people will fear. And, as a result, politicians take advantage to create laws that will benefit the company behind this false scenario and the politicians too (perhaps indirectly).
